Decaf Double Short Americano and a Marionberry Croissant
Zeitgeist is a coffee shop in Pioneer Square, just a couple of blocks away from King Street Station. We love it, and since we were planning on spending the day in Seattle, we knew we had to start it off with a cup of coffee from Zeitgeist. Read more…

Sunday Morning Breakfast
Kate’s is a cozy little cafe in downtown Everett. She serves both Greek and American food, but a weekend breakfast is why we come. The feel is small-town diner, and the menu is full of good comfort food. She’s open until 3, so it’s a good place for breakfast or lunch. Read more…

Chili Ready to Cook Overnight in the Crock Pot
We were given a crock pot for Christmas, and were so excited to try our hand at making some homemade chili. Some of the great things about homemade chili are it’s so easy and inexpensive to make, it saves really well (and actually gets better as it saves), and it can be healthy as well. There’s lots of variations, but the following is a sample of what we like to make at home. Read more…

I came across a recipe similar to this, tweaked it to suit my tastes, and every time I’ve made it, it’s been amazing. It’s quick and easy, incredibly healthy, and makes plenty. It saves well too, so leftovers are a hit! Quinoa is a grain from South America, and I usually buy it at Trader Joe’s. It’s inexpensive, very nutritious, and cooks just like rice. It’s a great alternative to rice or couscous. Read more…

Before I discovered this recipe for French Toast, I wasn’t a huge fan of the dish. Now, I love it so much, we’ve made it for guests and have had lots of happy mouths in our home as a result! The trick is thick slices of good homemade bread, and the sweetened cinnamon batter. Yum! Read more…

Baklava
I am not a baker. I enjoy cooking because of it’s creativity and lack of rigidity. You’ll notice most of my recipes are a bit vague and leave lots of room for play! This recipe, however, is so worth the “baking” precision I usually avoid. I found the original in a cookbook, and played with it, tweaking it a bit every time, until I came up with this final result. It’s the most amazing baklava I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve had several people say the same! *unapologetic bragging* Read more…
