Grilled Peaches with Butter Brown Sugar Sauce

Grilled Peaches. True Goodness.

Grilled Peaches. True Goodness.

For our amazing Lamb, Steak, and Veggie Barbecue, we had to have an equally worthy dessert. When my dad said he had some really good peaches and asked if I wanted to grill them, I knew it was my moment to shine. Read more…

Grilled Lamb with Veggies

Lamb Cooked with Flames!

Lamb Cooked with Flames!

I have to start out by saying that my dad is a great cook. Both of my parents are. My mom does the comfort food, my dad does the “cool” food. The grilling, the seafood, the curries, the sushi. I think I got my love of good, creative food from my dad. One of my favorite ways to spend time with my dad is to cook with him. So when we got the invitation to come over and grill some lamb… how could I say no? Read more…

Fresh Cilantro Beside Veggies, Chickpeas, and Quinoa

One of our favorite food blogs, The Minimalist, posted a video for Chickpea Salad. I was inspired. I was also short on chickpeas. I got a little creative. Read more…

Grilled Burgers Stuffed with Feta, Thyme, Garlic, and Sundried Tomatoes

Stuffing Burgers with Goodness

Stuffing Burgers with Goodness

The other day we had Josh’s family over for dinner, and decided to make hamburgers. If you know me at all, you know that I can’t do anything typical. Grilled burgers just sounded so…. boring. So I started thinking. Read more…

Specialty’s Chocolate Chunk Peanut Butter Cookies and Chocolate Soy Milk

Happy Snack

Happy Snack

This evening, Josh surprised me with a cookie from Specialty’s. Not just any cookie. Knowing my weakness for chocolate and peanut butter, he brought home a Chocolate Chunk Peanut Butter Cookie.

I did a little dance. Read more…

Potato Curry

Glorious Spices

Glorious Spices

I found a very inspiring recipe for Potato Curry in Mangos and Curry Leaves. There were some elements of it that I wasn’t crazy about (the smell of turmeric kind of makes me shudder) and some things I just didn’t have on hand (black mustard seed? I can find that where?). However, I did follow a great deal of it, and the meal turned out amazing. Read more…

My Husband, the Chef

Can I just say up front that I have the most amazing husband in the world? I really do. The other morning, I had woken up completely exhausted. I hadn’t slept well, and the thought of getting through the day was a little more than I could handle at 4:30 in the morning. Josh said, “What can I do to help you get through your day? What if you came home after work and went straight to bed for a nap? When I come home I’ll start dinner, and I’ll come wake you up when it’s done.”

How amazing is that? All day I was looking forward to that nap and waking up to dinner.

Guys, if you’re wondering how to get your girl to fall in love with you all over again, cook her dinner. Completely cook her dinner. Don’t let her help. The rule is you’re in the kitchen, and she’s in a hot bath or with a book or in bed, completely relieved of any responsibility for the evening. And ordering pizza or opening a box of macaroni does not count. That’s nice and all, but the utterly romantic, make-a-girl-melt is dinner from scratch. And it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Molly Moon’s

Outside of Molly Moon's

Outside of Molly Moon

I discovered Molly Moon’s through a long-lost classmate’s blog. I was digging around online for some cool food blogs for inspiration and networking, and came across The Tasting Menu. After reading a bit, I realized I went to school with the gal who writes for it! Crazy small world. One of her posts mentioned that she was going to be creating ice cream for Molly Moon’s, and I thought I’ve got to try this place out. Dana was always a good cook, and while at 17 the rest of us were reading the directions on the Top Ramen package, Dana was hosting dinner parties that consisted of several courses and name cards. If she’s still creating 10+ years later, it’s got to be good. Read more…
