Curry Bistro - Cuisine of India

An Amazing Meal

An Amazing Meal

Tonight Josh and I were delighted to discover Curry Bistro, a wonderful little restaurant here in North Everett. For those of us that love good food that goes beyond the usual fare, Curry Bistro is a welcome treat for Everett.

We were biking this evening along Hewitt, and were drawn to this little restaurant. It was a warm evening, and the host was getting some fresh air outside. He was very friendly, and invited us in. There was a perfect spot to lock up our bikes, and we were ready for some good food.

We started off with Mango Iced Tea (for me) and Mango Lassi (for Josh) while we looked over their extensive menu. They have pages of options, and it took us awhile to finally settle on a choice. We decided on the Mixed Platter for an appetizer - a plate of Veggie Pakoras (chopped mixed vegetables rolled in spiced chickpea flour and fried) Samosas (potatoes, peas, and spices wrapped and fried), and Paneer Pakoras (-style fried cheese). These were served with two kinds of dipping sauces, and were very good. We’ve both had Veggie Pakoras and Samosas before, but this was the first time we’d tried Paneer Pakoras - it was delicious!

For dinner, we chose a favorite - Lamb Rogan Josh, which is chunks of boneless lamb cooked Kashmiri style in a curry of spices, saffron and yogurt. It’s incredible. I chose a dish we’d never had before - Chicken Korma. It’s cooked in herbs and spices, and served with cheese, yogurt, and nuts. One thing that I thought was charming about the menu was the level of spiced options - there was the usual Mild, Medium, or Hot - and then there was Hot. We like a bit of heat, but aren’t that tough. We went with Medium. Our server teased us about trying Hot, and we joked about easing our way into that one! We also ordered Naan, and the meal came with Saffron Basmati Rice. Our meal was served in those gorgeous copper bowls I’d seen at other restaurants (does anybody know where I can buy those?? I love them!), and the Lamb Rogan Josh was kept hot over a candle. The presentation was lovely, and the food was incredible!

Getting Started!

Getting Started!

We ended the meal with baklava (that’s almost as good as my recipe!) and brought plenty of leftovers home for a delicious lunch for tomorrow. We chatted with the owner for a bit, and discovered that they have moved from 128th to Hewitt, and have been here for about a month.

food is a favorite of ours, and we are so excited to have a new - and very delicious - restaurant in North Everett. The service was excellent, the menu filled with lots of wonderful things to choose from, and the food is perfect. We will definitely be returning, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Grant and I had been waiting for Curry Bistro to open ever since the owners closed their former restaurant, the Taj Majestic, which was over by the Albertsons on 128th street. So I second your enthusiasm for the restaurant. It’s great that Everett’s only option for Indian food is a great one.

We used to have to drive down to 198th (Cafe India) for good Indian food - I’d never tried this place when they were the Taj Majestic. We’re always excited to see Everett start to grow in the area of good ethnic food - it’s much needed!

We recently traveled through Malaysia on our way to Indonesia and found the best little Indian restaurant! It was a hole in the wall but we fell in love with their Roti bread and ate there on our layover the way over and back :) Perhaps we could have a food outing with you and your husband while we’re home?? We love food :) And we think that maybe you should consider coming to host teams in Cambodia…. :) Think about it….we’re looking for new people! Have I mentioned that some parts are remote???

Michelle, you’re wonderful. I do think we need a food outing when you come home for a visit! And we are so open for wherever God leads us - Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Uganda, or someplace we’ve not even thought of yet. Maybe you can convince us over dinner! ;) And Indian food in Malaysia sounds delightful!
