Salted Caramel Mocha
Anyone who knows us well enough knows we’re not huge fans of Starbucks. We’re not opposed to patronizing them from time to time, and I even used to work there. Any of you loyal fans (or employees - sorry Elise!) out there that may be reading this, I understand they must be doing something right or there wouldn’t be a billion of them on the planet. However, I’ve found them to be slightly disappointing over the years, and we’ve had more luck with smaller lines of coffee. So when I tried the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and thought that it came up lacking (tasted more like a doughnut than salt, caramel, or hot chocolate), I knew we could do better making it at home.
Specialty’s

Best Cookies Ever
The other morning, Josh and I were looking for guaranteed satisfaction in the department of coffee and pastries. We had spent the morning sampling several coffee shops in Seattle, and had saved what we thought to be the best for last. We’ve gone to Specialty’s several times before, and had always had a wonderful experience there. Background story: I am not a mocha drinker. Typically, I like my coffee strong and rich and not sweet at all. My first time at Specialty’s, Josh ordered a mocha and had me taste it… I sheepishly realized about ten minutes later that I had polished it off. It was that good. We’ve had Saturday mornings when we will drive the 30 miles or so to get a mocha and amazing pastries from Specialty’s. Josh works nearby, and will frequent them during the day, occasionally bringing treats home for me. For Christmas, we had cookies shipped to family in Washington DC. You get the picture. We love them. Read more…
All City Coffee

Chai and Green Tea Bread
The other day Josh and I were in Pioneer Square, and decided to try All City Coffee. It was quiet when we went in, possibly a slow time of the morning. The barista got our order for us and we took a seat at the bar by the window. Read more…
Zeitgeist Coffee

Decaf Double Short Americano and a Marionberry Croissant
Zeitgeist is a coffee shop in Pioneer Square, just a couple of blocks away from King Street Station. We love it, and since we were planning on spending the day in Seattle, we knew we had to start it off with a cup of coffee from Zeitgeist. Read more…
Sip Coffee

Interior of Sip
Josh and I are admitted coffee snobs. While we were on our honeymoon in Oregon, we learned that it is almost impossible to find a decent cup of coffee (yes, even at Starbucks) outside of Seattle. Sip Coffee, however, is one of those rare places… Read more…
