Grilled Lamb with Veggies

Lamb Cooked with Flames!
I have to start out by saying that my dad is a great cook. Both of my parents are. My mom does the comfort food, my dad does the “cool” food. The grilling, the seafood, the curries, the sushi. I think I got my love of good, creative food from my dad. One of my favorite ways to spend time with my dad is to cook with him. So when we got the invitation to come over and grill some lamb… how could I say no?
Chickpea and Quinoa Salad with Ginger, Lemon, and Cumin Dressing
One of our favorite food blogs, The Minimalist, posted a video for Chickpea Salad. I was inspired. I was also short on chickpeas. I got a little creative.
Grilled Burgers Stuffed with Feta, Thyme, Garlic, and Sundried Tomatoes
The other day we had Josh’s family over for dinner, and decided to make hamburgers. If you know me at all, you know that I can’t do anything typical. Grilled burgers just sounded so…. boring. So I started thinking.
My Husband, the Chef
Can I just say up front that I have the most amazing husband in the world? I really do. The other morning, I had woken up completely exhausted. I hadn’t slept well, and the thought of getting through the day was a little more than I could handle at 4:30 in the morning. Josh said, “What can I do to help you get through your day? What if you came home after work and went straight to bed for a nap? When I come home I’ll start dinner, and I’ll come wake you up when it’s done.”
How amazing is that? All day I was looking forward to that nap and waking up to dinner.
Guys, if you’re wondering how to get your girl to fall in love with you all over again, cook her dinner. Completely cook her dinner. Don’t let her help. The rule is you’re in the kitchen, and she’s in a hot bath or with a book or in bed, completely relieved of any responsibility for the evening. And ordering pizza or opening a box of macaroni does not count. That’s nice and all, but the utterly romantic, make-a-girl-melt is dinner from scratch. And it doesn’t have to be anything fancy.

Grilled Pork, Veggies and Wild Rice

Basting Pork Tenderloin in a Coconut Mango Curry
We’re not usually big fans of pork, but while we were shopping one afternoon at Central Market, the sample that was being served was delicious. Inspired by both the taste (and the price - about $3 for a package of 4), I bought a package of pork tenderloin for the grill. Read more…

Mediterranean Quinoa Salad
I came across a recipe similar to this, tweaked it to suit my tastes, and every time I’ve made it, it’s been amazing. It’s quick and easy, incredibly healthy, and makes plenty. It saves well too, so leftovers are a hit! Quinoa is a grain from South America, and I usually buy it at Trader Joe’s. It’s inexpensive, very nutritious, and cooks just like rice. It’s a great alternative to rice or couscous. Read more…
